What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activity Aide (PT) position at County of Chester?
The Activity Aide assists recreation therapists on and off their units with all aspects of therapeutic activities involving residents of Pocopson Home.
Computer Skills:
- One-on-one socialization with residents on and off units.
- Transport residents to areas of activity on and off units.
- Hold discussion groups, using various materials to promote interaction, communication and reminiscence and provide activity programming (independent of therapist).
- Gather materials relevant to group type.
- Observe residents and report anything unusual or different in a resident’s behavior and/or appearance.
- Assist residents on outside bus trips to embark, debark and transport at destination.
- Shop for residents.
- Assist with activity calendars and filing.
- Assist with the necessary paperwork when covering units.
- Help cover activities on evenings, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.
- Participate in in-service education.
- Help cover units when needed.
- Participate in activities and department meetings.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, push items, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasionally, the employee will need to sit; reach above shoulders; bend at the waist or work bent at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; and drive a vehicle. On rare occasions, the employee will need to work with arms above shoulder height, twist or rotate at the waist, lift and carry items, and work with an uncommon level of noise.
