Duties
- Prepare animals for examinations and procedures by performing animal restraint and handling with confidence and compassion.
- Assist veterinarians during surgeries, dental procedures, and diagnostic tests, including radiology diagnostics such as X-ray imaging.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols.
- Collect blood samples through phlebotomy and perform laboratory work to support diagnostic testing.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety through veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques.
- Operate medical equipment including radiology machines, laboratory analyzers, and anesthesia units with proficiency.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infections and ensure optimal animal health outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.
- Document all procedures accurately in veterinary software systems while adhering to veterinary terminology standards.
- Support emergency medicine cases with critical & intensive care techniques, ensuring prompt response to urgent situations.
Experience
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary setting is preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in animal husbandry, animal physiology, and anatomy knowledge across various species including dogs and cats.
- Hands-on experience with dental terminology, general anesthesia administration, IV insertion, and veterinary surgical assistance is essential.
- Familiarity with diagnostic radiology procedures such as X-ray imaging and radiology diagnostics enhances your ability to support complex cases.
- Skill in laboratory work including phlebotomy, sample processing, and laboratory diagnostics is preferred.
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques; experience with dog handling
- Knowledge of veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling is preferred.
- Strong client communication skills combined with a compassionate approach will help foster trusting relationships with pet owners seeking expert pet care.
