Summary: Drives bus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Obtains assignment from Dispatcher at start of shift.
· Performs pre and post-trips, to include: walking around bus to observe any visual defects and checking operating systems, brakes, horn, windshield wipers, lights, first-aid kits, emergency flashers, and door-opening devices before starting trip.
· Picks up and discharges at bus, following prescribed company service route and safety rules. Checks interior of bus at end of shift for any forgotten personal items and removes any large waste items or newspapers.
· Complies with local traffic regulations.
· Reports delays, accidents, and emergency conditions to dispatcher via mobile radio. Assists injured persons with first aid kit if necessary. Completes incident/accident reports as necessary.
· Inspects bus and checks gas, oil, and water before departure.
· Helps elderly or disabled persons to enter and exit bus.
· Collects fares, provides change as needed. Answers questions about fares, routes and service.
· Completes driver log at completion of shift, noting any safety items, customer complaints or comments. Returns log, tickets and money to dispatch office.
· May be assigned to switch buses round yard or move buses in and out of maintenance line.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
· Prefer one year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills:
· Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
· Prefer basic knowledge of computer operations, accessing internet for employee related websites.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Certificate: CDL C with Passenger Endorsement, On-line Criminal Background Check, County Connection of Midland Medical Certificate
Physical Demands:
· Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing upon conditional offer of employment.
