School Age Counselor – Make Every Day Count!

As a School Age Counselor, you’ll help create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive. From leading activities to building meaningful relationships, you’ll play an important role in shaping each child’s day.
What You’ll Do
- Help plan and lead fun, developmentally appropriate activities in a classroom setting
- Create a safe, welcoming environment for all children
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff
- Maintain accurate attendance and child records
- Follow YMCA policies, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services requirements, Step Up to Quality standards, and the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines
- Respond appropriately in emergency situations to ensure safety at all times
- Help maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and organization
- Model respect for others and YMCA property

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend frequently, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Work in an environment where exposure to common illnesses may occur
