Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician - I to join our healthcare facility’s cleaning and sanitation team. This role is vital in maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cleaning protocols, sanitation standards, and safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines. Prior janitorial or custodial experience in hospital or healthcare settings is highly preferred but not required. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to public health through meticulous cleaning and environmental services.
Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, operating rooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas using approved cleaning agents and methods.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation in accordance with hospital policies and OSHA regulations.
- Operate floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums to ensure floors are clean and safe.
- Restock supplies in patient care areas and restrooms to ensure continuous availability of necessary items.
- Follow established protocols for waste disposal, including hazardous waste handling when applicable.
- Document completed tasks and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervisory staff promptly.
- Adhere to infection control procedures to prevent the spread of pathogens within the facility.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all cleaning tools and supplies are stored properly.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in environmental services, janitorial work, custodial duties, or hospital cleaning is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to cleaning and sanitation practices is preferred.
- Experience with floor care equipment such as buffers and scrubbers is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols accurately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks which may include lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe environment through proper use of cleaning chemicals and safety equipment.
