Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elder Care Assistant to provide essential support to elderly individuals in their daily activities and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those with disabilities or special needs. This role requires a blend of patience, empathy, and practical skills to ensure that our clients receive the best possible care in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs.
- Observe and document patient behavior and changes in condition, reporting any concerns to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including lifting clients safely when necessary.
- Support clients with hospice care as needed, ensuring comfort and dignity during end-of-life transitions.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Engage with clients diagnosed with autism or other disabilities, adapting care approaches as required.
- Administer first aid when necessary and respond effectively to emergencies.
Experience
- Previous experience in elder care or long-term care settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in health status.
- Familiarity with creating and following care plans tailored for individual needs.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is a plus.
- Understanding of hospice care principles is beneficial.
- Certification in first aid is desirable; training may be provided for the right candidate.
