What are the responsibilities and job description for the ASSISTANT SWIM TEAM COACH - SEASONAL position at COUNTRY CLUB OF LANDFALL?
The Country Club of Landfall is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach for the Lazers Swim Team 2026 summer season. The Landfall Lazers are a well-established team located in Wilmington, NC. The Lazers currently compete in the Wilmington Swim League. We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to assist in coaching approximately 120 swimmers of all ability levels in our developmental and competitive summer swim league.
The ideal candidate would have strong communication skills, the ability to connect with children from grades K-12, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport of swimming.

- To create a fun, energetic, and safe environment for swimmers to learn, develop and refine swim abilities and technique with a focus on sportsmanship.
- To develop the next generation of athletic leaders in and out of the pool.
- Create a culture of inclusion, enthusiasm and kindness.
Daily Expectations - Assistant Swim Coach
- Assists in the creation of daily workouts to accommodate variety of skill levels
- Ensure a safe swimming environment with the main focus on the swimmers in the pool at all times
- Being mindful of other swimmers in and around the pool who are not participating in swim team
- Assist in the coordination of meet line-ups, parent communications and activity scheduling throughout the season
- Ensure prompt arrival and timeliness for all practices, meets and team activities
- Ensure all needed equipment is well maintained and ready for use
- Remain present and engaged during practice and meets and reduce external distractions
- For more developed swimmers, provide tips for technique and refining their stroke. For less developed swimmers, provide in-water instruction to ensure repetition of tips, review any disqualification information and ensure that is a focus of practice
- Provide feedback on performance during meets as well as practice
- Encourage, cheer, and energize swimmers with hopes of impacting positive performance
- Maintain positive attitude and ensure high level of encouragement
- Assist with meet, practice, and socials set-up and break down
- Adhere to guidelines for USA Swimming Safe Sport and ensure appropriate coach to athlete and athlete to athlete relationships
- Must be CPR/FirstAid/AED Certified
Schedule:
Afternoon practices begin mid May from 4-7pm. Once New Hanover County Public Schools complete the school year, practices will be held in the morning from 8:00am-10:00am Monday-Friday. The Lazers will participate in 5 local meets and one, end of season, Championship Meet that concludes the season in late July.
