The main focus of this position is bathing, brushing, and drying dogs, with additional responsibilities in boarding and kennel care during slower grooming periods or busy boarding seasons.

Primary Focus: Dog Bathing & Grooming Prep
- Maintain a clean and organized bathing area- including disinfecting tubs, tables, tools, and floors.
- Lift, move, and safely restrain pets of various sizes and temperaments.
- Bathe, brush, and dry dogs of all sizes and coat types.
- Use proper handling and bathing techniques.
- Keep grooming tubs, tables, tools, and dryers clean and disinfected.
- Assist groomers with prep work when needed.
- Maintaining a neat and organized grooming space.
- Bathe dogs according to coat type and grooming notes
- Properly dry dogs using towels, forced-air dryers, and gentle handling
- Brush, detangle, and prep pets for our groomer(s)
- Trim nails, clean ears, and assist with basic grooming tasks as a trainee
- Safely move pets to and from grooming areas
Secondary Support: Kennel/Boarding help (cleaning runs, bowls, laundry, walking pets) as needed.
During slower grooming times or heavier boarding days, you may assist with:
- Cleaning and disinfecting kennels and runs
- Washing bowls and refreshing bedding
- walking and monitoring boarding pets
- Switching, folding, and stocking laundry
- Helping maintain the overall cleanliness of the facility
- Assisting with feeding or enrichment routines
This role supports multiple parts of the clinic to keep everything running smoothly.
What we're looking for

- Comfortable with physical labor and animal handling
- Willing to clean regularly (grooming and kennels both require sanitation)
- Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Follow checklists and procedures without difficulty
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Weekend and holiday availability (boarding operated daily)
Qualifications
Maintain grooming area cleanliness, laundry, and sanitation
- Prior experience in pet grooming is highly preferred; certification in pet grooming is a plus
- Knowledge of dog handling techniques and animal restraint methods to ensure safety for pets and staff
- Experience working with veterinary environments or as a veterinary technician or assistant is advantageous
- Familiarity with animal handling across different species, including dogs, cats, and horses (equine experience) is beneficial
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or heavy pets or equipment
- Basic understanding of pet care, animal behavior, and veterinary procedures to support overall animal well-being
