What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cheese Shop Production Assistant position at Counter Cheesemongers?
Job Overview
We are searching for someone to join our small but mighty team to help us with production and baking. Production projects include but are not limited to: baking crackers, packing out items that we make, making various doughs, baking breads, and helping with other tasks in the shop. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about the ins and outs of a small business and learn new skills in terms of baking and food prodution. This is a largely independent role so listening to one headphone while working is permitted (one only for safety and ease of taking direction/communication). This would be a part time role with an average of about 8 hours per week. Schedule will be determined based on candidate's availability.
Duties
- Various production projects including baking of breads and crackers
- Making pimento cheese
- Making pesto
- Washing dishes and keeping production area clean and neat
- Packing out/packaging items that we make
- Helping with other behind the scenes tasks to help the shop run effectively
Qualifications
- Food Safety Manager certified
- Basic kitchen skills
- Strong communication skills with a friendly, professional etiquette
- Hardworking with a desire to accomplish tasks swiftly and in a timely manner
- Must have reliable transportation to the job
This position is ideal for organized individuals who thrive in dynamic environments, are self motivators and are passionate about supporting local food producers. Please note that our shop is small, so being okay with tight quarters is a must.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4.0 – 8.0 per week
