Position Summary
The Therapist provides specialized clinical services to justice-involved youth transitioning from court-ordered placements the Division of Youth Services back into the community. This role focuses on promoting emotional regulation, prosocial behavior, family stabilization, and successful reintegration. Responsibilities include individual and family therapy, group facilitation, collaboration with juvenile justice partners, attendance at discharge hearings, and thorough clinical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
- Provide trauma-informed individual therapy, family therapy, and therapeutic groups tailored to the developmental needs of adolescents.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including diagnostic assessments, risk/safety assessments, and individualized treatment plans.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions appropriate for justice-involved youth (e.g., CBT, DBT skills, MI, MST-informed approaches).
Client Advocacy & Youth Support
- Attend discharge hearings and other court-related or facility-based meetings with youth, offering clinical insight and emotional support to facilitate smooth transitions.
- Collaborate with probation officers, juvenile courts, detention centers, and youth-serving agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Support youth in developing coping skills, prosocial decision-making, and community engagement.
- Assist families in strengthening communication, restoring relationships, and reinforcing structure at home.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as scheduled to review progress, identify barriers, and coordinate service plans.
- Maintain open, consistent communication with case managers, school personnel, probation staff, and partner agencies for holistic care.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare monthly progress reports summarizing client participation, behavioral changes, risks, and recommendations.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with program, agency, and state requirements.
- Maintain records that reflect trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate care.
Professional Standards
- Uphold ethical standards and legal obligations as defined by relevant professional licensing boards.
- Participate in supervision, staff trainings, and continuing education related to adolescent development, trauma, and juvenile justice.
- Provide supervision to Qualified Behavioral Health Professionals.
