CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions. As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will spend half of their time supporting a senior fellow whose work focuses on nuclear energy and security issues. The research associate will also support the work of other fellows and programs within the Studies Program. This position is based in CFR’s Washington, DC, office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to): Researching specific areas as requested by the fellows, including energy investments and markets, nuclear energy and supply chain, climate change, national and international security, and other topics within U.S. foreign policy. Providing administrative support to the fellows, including handling correspondence and responding to media requests. Coordinating events, including preparing invitations, making travel arrangements, scheduling, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support. Completing writing assignments, including research findings summaries and business writing. Assisting in managing program finances, including preparing budgets and tracking monthly statements, monitoring grant information and writing reports and requests, creating and updating Excel spreadsheets, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement. Assisting the fellow with social media outreach, including publishing a blog, website, video, and/or using social media applications such as X, Facebook, etc., as needed. Providing support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in national security, international relations, energy economics, or a related field, with high academic credentials Experience One year of related administrative and/or internship experience Related Skills & Other Requirements Familiarity with nuclear security and climate change topics. Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook Required Application Materials Please submit a résumé and cover letter stating your interest in the position. Compensation And Benefits The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $55,000 – $58,000, depending on experience.
