Education, Certifications and Work Related Experience
- Teaching certification in K-8, K-6, 1-8, 4-8
- Preferred- Successful teaching experience in 4th-6th grade math
- Preferred- Skills, abilities, experience in problem-based approaches and math pedagogy
- Preferred-Skills, abilities, experiences in literacy integration
- Preferred- Skills, abilities, experiences in 4th-6th grade science instruction
- The ideal candidate will have successful classroom experience with strong abilities in upper elementary math and science instruction.

- A track record of success as evidenced by growth scores, positive student perceptions and relationships, positive communications and relationships with parent
- Strong recommendations of colleagues and supervisors
- Ability to contribute strongly and positively to a team, collaborate with colleagues and appropriate others
- Past positive experience in leading and/or participating in a professional learning community structure focused on student learning
- Understanding the pedagogy and central concepts of the content area as defined by the Tennessee Curriculum Standards as well as a grasp of the instructional shifts associated with increasingly rigorous standards.
- Comfortable in using data resources such as TVAAS and communicating results to appropriate stakeholders
- Experience in standards-based grading and creating common assessments with colleagues for both formative and summative purposes
- Ability to use date to drive instruction and reflecting regarding the learning process
- Possess confidence in utilizing technology to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
- Experience in a one-to-one digital classroom environment or strong Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge
- Highly motivated teacher with the ability to cognitively engage students in learning and facilitate the instruction process
- Understanding of student learning styles and age-appropriate instructional strategies that support higher-order thinking, problem solving and real- world connections for students
- Evident of engaging in high quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education
