Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and within the community. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of individuals in your care.
- Implement care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients in social interactions and community engagement to promote independence and social skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function, including memory care for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred, particularly in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital signs assessment is beneficial.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is required; certifications are a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client assistance.
