Senior Accountant – Cottonwood Healthcare
Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $85,000 – $100,000
Cottonwood Healthcare is seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for leading the accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for affiliated operations. This role ensures accurate and timely financial close processes, supports audits and regulatory filings, oversees tax reporting, and provides accounting support for acquisitions, lender reporting, and government programs.
The Senior Accountant will also play a key role in mentoring staff accountants, maintaining financial accuracy, and partnering with leadership, legal, and operations teams to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Accounting & Reporting
- Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, including a hard close by the 15th of each month
- Prepare and review financial statements for affiliated entities
- Perform bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and monthly financial reviews to ensure accuracy
- Maintain and update fixed asset (FF&E) schedules and oversee capital improvement accounting
- Oversee property taxes, personal property taxes, and appeals as neede
Regulatory & Audit Support
- Manage Medicaid and Medicare Cost Reports
- Assist with annual WCF audits and other lender or regulatory audits
- Coordinate BBC monthly submissions
- Handle IRS notices and required tax filings
- Serve as the primary point of contact for audits within the assigned region
Lender & Legal Support
- Prepare due diligence requests for lenders and legal teams
- Submit annual tax reports and lender-required financial documents
- Maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual lender reporting required by loan covenants
- Support refinancing efforts, renewals, and covenant compliance
- Assist legal teams with acquisitions, contracts, appeals, and other financial requests
Systems & Process Management
- Provide functional support and troubleshooting for NetSuite and Ramp systems
- Manage Ramp audits, expense splits, and credit card user maintenance
- Support process improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase operational efficiency
State Programs & Grants
- Oversee participation and compliance with grants and government programs
Insurance & Compliance
- Add vehicle drivers to insurance policies as needed
- Collect and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for vendors and contractors
Leadership & Development
- Train, mentor, and oversee assigned Staff Accountant(s)
- Foster collaboration between accounting, operations, and leadership teams
- Ensure accounting procedures are followed accurately and deadlines are consistently met
Other Duties
- Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by company ownership or direct supervisor
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience; healthcare financial experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost reporting, and healthcare accounting practices
- Experience with NetSuite, Ramp, and similar ERP/accounting systems
- Proven experience managing audits, tax filings, and lender reporting
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Leadership experience training or supervising staff preferred
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
