Job Overview:
Cottonwood Estates Assisted Living Facility is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate Kitchen Manager to lead our dietary services team. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals that meet dietary requirements and personal preferences. This leadership role is essential in maintaining food safety standards, managing inventory and budgets, supervising staff, and creating a positive dining experience for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations & Meal Service
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the preparation and service of daily meals in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Ensure meals are nutritious, appealing, and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to accommodate physician-ordered diets, allergies, and special dietary needs.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control standards.
- Ensure timely meal delivery and exceptional dining service for residents.
Staff Leadership & Training
- Supervise, schedule, and support kitchen staff, cooks, and dietary aides.
- Recruit, train, and onboard new dietary team members.
- Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented workplace culture.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Ensure proper food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections and corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with health department and assisted living regulations.
Inventory & Budget Management
- Monitor inventory levels and order food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Establish relationships with vendors and coordinate deliveries.
- Track food costs, control waste, and manage departmental budgets.
- Maintain accurate inventory, purchasing, and food production records.
- Assist with menu planning while balancing nutritional requirements and cost efficiency.
Resident Relations
- Engage with residents to understand food preferences and dietary concerns.
- Address resident and family feedback regarding meal service.
- Work to create a positive dining experience that enhances resident satisfaction and quality of life.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or food service management certification.
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen management, dietary management, or food service leadership experience.
- Must have Serve Safe Certification.
- Experience in healthcare, assisted living, long-term care, senior living, or hospitality preferred.
- Knowledge of nutrition, special diets, and dietary restrictions for seniors.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management, purchasing, and budget control.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Food Handler's Permit and ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
