Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Surgery Physician Assistant to join our esteemed healthcare team at Cottage Clinical Associates. In this role, you will work closely with our CT surgeons to provide exceptional patient care in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Your responsibilities will include assisting in surgical procedures, conducting pre- and post-operative evaluations, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiothoracic surgery and possess excellent clinical and communication skills.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing direct patient care to assigned patients within Cottage Medical Group (CMG). Functions independently and in collaboration with the supervising clinic physician(s) and leadership in the delivery of patient care. Assesses, interprets, and integrates findings to determine appropriate diagnostic, educational and therapeutic management plans for patients. Typical work scenarios require specialized knowledge, critical thinking, good judgment based upon the principles of biological, physiological, behavioral, and sociological sciences skills, as well as strong customer service skills. Internal contacts include ancillary services departments, clinic and/or hospital staff, supervising physician(s) as well as other physicians, and management throughout CMG and/or hospital. External contacts include patients, physicians, outside medical staff, and community resource services.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current certification and licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery or a related field
- Excellent knowledge of surgical techniques, procedures, and equipment
- Proficient in post-operative care and management of cardiothoracic patients
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Assist the CT surgeons in the operating room during cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures - Conduct pre-operative evaluations, including patient history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests
- Provide post-operative care, including monitoring patients, managing pain, and ensuring proper wound healing
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans - Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions and answer any questions or concerns
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation Stay current with advancements in cardiothoracic surgery by attending conferences and continuing education opportunities
- Experience with minimally invasive surgical techniques
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Knowledge of research methodologies and participation in clinical trials
