Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Medication History Pharmacy Technician. This role is responsible for obtaining an accurate medication history by interviewing patients and consulting with their outpatient pharmacies.
Major Accountabilities include:
- Obtain medication histories on all assigned patients during scheduled shifts.
- Perform patient and/or caregiver interviews to obtain allergies and dose, route, frequency, indication, and date/time last dose taken of current medications including prescriptions, over the counter medications, and herbal supplements.

Education:
- Preferred: Degree in Pharmacology.
- Minimum: Pharmacy Technician Licensure by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Preferred: Above plus/and National Pharmacy Technician Board Certification Medication History Certificate.
- Minimum: Computer skills and knowledge of pharmacy technology.
- Preferred: Familiarity with EPIC.
- Minimum: 3 years experience.
- Preferred: At least 1-2 years of related outpatient/retail pharmacy experience (order processing, prescription adjudication, third party problem resolution, and customer service).

- Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health’s annual management incentive program. Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential.
