Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CNC Machinist role based in Janesville WI. The CNC Machinist will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Daily responsibilities include selecting appropriate tooling and fixtures, loading programs, performing machine offsets, and verifying part dimensions using measuring instruments. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, performing basic machine adjustments, and completing in-process inspections to maintain quality standards. The CNC Machinist will also maintain a clean and safe work area, perform routine machine maintenance, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CNC machine setup and operation, including tooling selection, offsets, and monitoring production runs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions, including GD&T and tolerances.
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators for in-process and final inspection.
- Experience with basic CNC programming edits and troubleshooting alarms or machining issues is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes, materials, feeds, and speeds.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
- Previous experience as a CNC machinist or in a precision machining environment, preferably producing gear or transmission components, is beneficial.
