COTS staff collaborates between case management, medical care, and community resources to ensure clients have access to the care they need, whether they are staying in short-term shelter or are in one of our long-term housing programs. All of our services are designed to give clients a chance at finding and keeping housing.
Environmental Consultant (Contract) Job description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting a facility renovation project. This role plays a key role in ensuring environmental compliance and promoting sustainable practices. The position involves conducting site assessments, analyzing environmental data, advising on regulations, and helping secure necessary permits.
The Environmental Consultant will collaborate with COTS staff and stakeholders to develop practical solutions, contribute to environmental management plans, and provide training on best practices. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, knowledgeable about current environmental laws, and comfortable with both fieldwork and reporting.
This is a temporary, contract-based role supporting a nonprofit renovation project and is not eligible for benefits.
\Essential Function
- Conduct environmental assessments and audits.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans.

- Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Analyze data related to pollution and other environmental hazards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental science or related field.
- Certification in environmental auditing or management.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Previous consulting experience.
- Strong background in environmental legislation.
- Proficiency in data analysis and environmental modeling software.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective Written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Employment Type
- This is a contract role and is not eligible for benefits.
- Duration: Up to 12 months, with potential extension based on project completion.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Preferred experience with Environmental Permitting, Construction/ Renovation Project Experience, Technical Writing Skills.
Compensation
Based on experience and qualifications, in alignment with available grant funding.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities, but the individual may be expected to lead project tasks, coordinate with stakeholders, and guide environmental compliance efforts throughout the renovation.
Work Environment
This job includes regular visits to assess environmental conditions and conduct inspections at worksite This may involve working in varying work conditions and physical environments. Should expect time in office.
