Coteau Prairie Homes is a modular and manufactured home dealer and general contractor based in Watertown, South Dakota. We are a family business that works in a project-based environment. This includes home sales, site work, foundations, utilities, and installation, so the sales role needs someone who can communicate well, stay organized, and help customers navigate a more involved buying process than a typical retail sale.
Position Overview
Coteau Prairie Homes is hiring a full-time, in person Sales Consultant to help customers through the process of buying a modular or manufactured home. This role fits someone who can build trust, follow up consistently, learn product details, and help move buyers from first inquiry to signed contract while working closely with a small team.
Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming leads by phone, text, email, and in person.
- Meet with customers to understand their goals, budget, land situation, timeline, and more.
- Conduct regular home sales activities, including customer appointments, site visits, walk-throughs, land meetings, and more as needed
- Present home options, features, pricing, and next steps clearly and professionally.
- Follow a structured sales process and keep accurate notes and documentation on each prospect using CRM tools.
- Prepare proposals, quotes, purchase agreements, and other sales paperwork for completed deals using internal software.
- Coordinate with internal team members and outside parties as needed during the sales process.
- Help set realistic customer expectations around timelines, ordering, and project flow.
- Work independently and stay organized to manage your sales pipeline, appointments, and daily outreach.
- Assist in improving internal business processes and personal sales knowledge. Be open to changing processes as they evolve.
- Be willing to step in on occasional tasks outside your core responsibilities as needed in a growing small business. In a young company with a high-demand product, everyone occasionally helps with work outside the norm, and we’re looking for team players who are invested in the company’s future
Qualifications
- Strong people skills and clear communication.
- Good follow-through and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with accountability.
- Willing to learn product information and explain it in a simple, honest way.
- Professional attitude and customer-first mindset.
- Sales experience is preferred, but willing to train the right person.
- Open and inviting to ever changing and improving systems and processes.
- Tech savvy. Ability and willingness to use CRM software, pricing tools, AI, common office software such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, especially email, documents, spreadsheets, and more.
Helpful Background
- Experience in sales, customer service, real estate, ag, construction, financing, or related fields.
- Familiarity with modular homes, manufactured homes, land development, construction lending processes, or residential construction is a plus.

Work Environment & Benefits
This is a full-time role in a small business setting where team members are expected to take ownership and contribute in a practical way. The sales process will rely heavily on navigating and showing display homes located on the retail center. Sales Consultants at Coteau Prairie Homes receive a standard salary during the training period, and switch to a draw plus commission on sales post-training with uncapped earning potential. They also receive standard small business benefits, all of which will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
