Forklift Driver

Job Title: Forklift Driver - Floor Department: Merchandising Work Site: Climate controlled warehouse with concrete floor Job Code: Heavy I.

Job Summary Operates a stand-up electric forklift to move pallets of merchandise and equipment throughout the warehouse. Hand stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets of product.

II. Identification of Job Functions Essential Functions and Tasks: 1) Moves pallets of merchandise from the steel shelving and the bulk wall to the sales area using stand-up electric forklift based on written list, verbal instruction, and observation of low stock. 50-80%

2) Stacks product from partial pallets onto full pallets. Pulls pallets with manual pallet jack, stocks merchandise and rotates stock as necessary. (Varies with staffing, area worked.) 5- 25%

3) Removes empty pallets from the sales floor using stand-up electric forklift. Stacks empty pallets outside, near receiving area in designated area. Up to 9%

4) Communicates with floor managers to set priorities and determine product placement. Prints daily hot sheet. 6%

5) Combines freight for efficient storage by stacking partial pallets together with forklift (transferring manually if needed). Wraps combined pallets in plastic film with a product tag prior to placement on steel shelves. 1-10%

6) Completes daily forklift safety checklist. Uses a spotter or acts as spotter to keep people out of the falldanger zone. Waters batteries and plugs batteries into battery charger. Changes out forklift batteries.* Up to 5%

7) Transfers pallets of merchandise from the receiving area to the steel shelves and bulk wall for storage, or directly to the sales floor. 1%

8) Assists with stocking. Clears sales floor debris. Observes and ensures correct product signage; creates computer generated signs. Labels unmarked product with item number. 2%

9) Regular and reliable attendance at your assigned location.

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks: 1) Assists with front end duties as necessary. 2) Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary. *This task is no longer present at most warehouses III. Qualification Standards Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Ability to acquire and maintain Costco Forklift Certification required. Experience: Forklift driving experience required, merchandising experience preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates ability to guide/drive equipment and good hand eye coordination.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
