*This position serves as a PRN/relief pharmacist to cover vacations and other time off requests (including evenings and Saturdays). There are no guaranteed hours per week, but pharmacist does have the ability to accept shifts at other locations. Position does not qualify for health benefits, but does accrue personal and vacation time.
Position Summary
Measures, labels, verifies, and dispenses prescription medications. Maintains patient records and exercises discretion with all information. Keeps pharmacy clean. Assists and counsels members regarding prescriptions, merchandise, and services while providing prompt and courteous member service. Follows proper safety and security procedures and standards.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
· Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs within Pharmacy personnel.
· Fulfills roles of pharmacy manager when he or she is absent.
· Implements and upholds proper Pharmacy and general safety procedures and standards.
· Measures and counts medication into appropriate container. Dispenses prescription medications.
· Labels prescriptions and applies appropriate warning stickers.
· Verifies prescriptions and refills with physician by phone. Selects substitutions when necessary.
· Obtains patient medical history and maintains confidential computer record.
· Checks prescriptions and over the counter medications for drug interactions.
· Counsels customers on proper medication usage. Answers customer questions about over-the-counter medication and product location. Addresses other customer concerns including insurance issues.
· Ensures that proper department procedures and standards are followed. Implements and upholds safety
· Assists in perpetual inventory of Schedule II to V controlled substances. Participates in twice yearly inventory of Department 92 and 93. Meets proper department production, record keeping, and product storage procedures and standards. Follows safety and security procedures.
· Assists with counter duties as necessary.
· Exercises discretion and confidentiality with all patient information.
· Executes proper Central Fill and DUR functions.
· Delivers immunizations.
· Approves and submits orders for equipment and supplies. Orders product using computer system. Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment.
· May be required to act as Pharmacist-in-Charge during part of shift, when Pharmacy Manager is not present: Acts as point of contact for regulatory, legal, third party insurance companies, and audit situations monitors pharmacy to ensure complete legal compliance supervises Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.
· Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.
· Ensures proper cleanup, storage and disposal of hazardous materials taken in as returns or accidentally spilled.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery:
· Computer, phone, fax, copier/printer, computerized order/inventory system, cash register, hand-held scanner.
Non-Essential Functions:
· Assists with front end duties and other departments of the warehouse as necessary.

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:
· Licensed Texas Pharmacist in good standing, Immunization Certification (including in date CPR certification)
· Bachelor of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy.
Recommended:
· Customer service skills.
