Bookkeeper – Wholesale Distribution & Inventory
Our Denver office is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day transaction processing, accounts payable, inventory-related accounting activities, and state and local tax compliance for our high-volume wholesale supply and warehousing operation. This is a structured, part-time, in-office position reporting directly to management.
The successful candidate will also work closely with our outside accounting firm on monthly financial reporting, account reconciliations, and other accounting-related matters.
Schedule: Flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Core Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (A/P) & Vendor Invoice Matching
- Process a high volume of vendor invoices.
- Perform three-way matching between vendor invoices, purchase orders (POs), and warehouse receiving documents/packing slips.
- Research and resolve discrepancies involving freight charges, quantities received, pricing, and cost variances.
Colorado Sales Tax & Exemption Compliance
- Prepare and manage monthly and quarterly Colorado sales tax filings.
- Maintain accurate and current customer tax exemption documentation, including resale certificates and wholesale licenses.
- Ensure compliance with Colorado destination-sourcing requirements and applicable local tax jurisdictions.
Journal Entries & General Ledger
- Prepare and post routine journal entries.
- Assist with inventory-related accounting adjustments.
- Perform month-end account reconciliations and maintain accurate subsidiary ledgers.
- Support monthly closing activities in coordination with the company's outside accounting firm.
Accounts Receivable & Cash Application
- Process daily cash receipts and merchant deposits.
- Apply ACH, wire, and check payments to customer accounts.
- Monitor aged accounts receivable balances and assist with collections for commercial customers.
Accounting Firm Coordination
- Collaborate monthly with the company's outside accounting firm.
- Provide supporting documentation, schedules, and reports as requested.
- Assist with year-end reporting, account analysis, and financial record maintenance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within wholesale distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, or another inventory-intensive industry.
Tax Competency
- Demonstrated experience preparing Colorado state and local sales tax filings and working with Colorado Department of Revenue systems.
Technical Proficiency
- Strong hands-on experience with ERP or accounting software (Epicor Prophet 21 experience is a plus).
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, sorting/filtering data, and basic formulas.
Accounting Knowledge
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting principles, including debits and credits.
- High degree of accuracy in high-volume data entry environments.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Position Details & Benefits
