QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
- Completion of paraprofessional Praxis exam, completion of 60 College Credit Hours, or
earned associate degree
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists licensed staff members for the purpose of instructing students, individually and in small groups, by implementing lesson plans, instructional activities; administering tests; teaching library skills; and planning
- Monitors individual students, classroom and/or playground activities for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
- Provides personal care and assistance to students for the purpose of helping students to access their education, which may include toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, positioning, mobility, and delegated nursing and/or therapy services
- Maintains classroom equipment, student’s files, records, etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as may be required
- Performs limited clerical functions directly related to the instructional assignment for the purpose of instructing students (i.e. preparing materials, instructional records for student files, communication with parent, etc)
- Maintains regular and appropriate attendance and is on time for assignment(s) for the purpose of meeting the needs of the students and the district
- Administers tests for the purpose of assisting licensed staff member in evaluating students’ progress
- Confers with licensed staff members, parents, and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of students’ progress and/or implementing of students’ objectives
- Participates in various meetings for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one’s skills/knowledge
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e. small groups, special needs children, computer labs, physical and/or occupational therapy, and/or talented and gifted)
- Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the school
- Perform other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and timely responses.
- Submit all data and information as requested.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administrators.
- Complete requested paperwork.
- Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technology
- Prioritize safety by, among other things, ensuring that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of the district's crisis management plan.
- Model a high standard of professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the district.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent travel to school district offices and classrooms
- Frequent walking throughout various buildings
- Moderate lifting and carrying from 15 to 30 pounds
- Often sitting at desk for extended periods
- Standing for limited periods of time
- Manual dexterity to use office equipment
- Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding
- Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress.
- Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making
- Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner. Observe all safety precautions.
