Senior Consultant – Microsoft Power Platform and Agentic Automation

Chicago, Il

Position: Senior Consultant – Microsoft Power Platform & Agentic Automation
Company: ***
Location: United States – Remote or Hybrid; periodic client travel
Employment Type: Project/Engagement-Based with Potential for Long-Term Opportunity

Role Overview
The Senior Consultant – Microsoft Power Platform & Agentic Automation will serve as a senior hands-on technical and client-facing leader responsible for delivering high-quality Microsoft Power Platform solutions while elevating the performance of the broader delivery team. Power Platform expertise is the primary technical requirement, but success extends beyond development: the Senior Consultant must consider architecture, scalability, maintainability, long-term strategy, and business outcomes when making solution decisions. This person will guide other developers, proactively identify risks, influence technical direction, and earn the trust of client leadership through expertise, professionalism, tact, and consistent delivery. The strongest performers will become viewed by clients as crucial to their success, strengthening *** relationship and creating opportunities for continued and expanded work.

Purpose: Lead the delivery of high-impact Microsoft Power Platform solutions while becoming a trusted advisor who improves both client outcomes and team performance. Your influence will extend beyond what gets built to how solutions scale, how teams deliver, and how clients view *** as a strategic partner.

Growth: Expand from senior Power Platform practitioner into broader solution and consulting leadership across architecture, agentic AI, Copilot Studio, Azure, UiPath, and intelligent automation. Strong performance creates a path toward solution architecture, technical leadership, strategic client ownership, and broader organizational influence.

Motivators: This role is designed for someone who wants to remain technically credible while having greater influence over architecture, teams, clients, and long-term outcomes. You will solve complex problems, mentor others, shape technical strategy, and earn greater responsibility through expertise and trusted client relationships.

Major Performance Objectives
1. Lead High-Quality Power Platform Delivery from Day One. Within the first 90 days, take ownership of significant Power Platform solution components or workstreams and deliver them on schedule with a higher level of quality, independence, and judgment. Design and build solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, integrations, and related Microsoft technologies while considering performance, security, scalability, architecture, maintainability, and long-term support. Anticipate risks rather than reacting to them and help ensure the overall team meets delivery commitments. Success will be measured by predictable delivery, high-quality technical outcomes, minimal avoidable rework, effective risk management, and strong confidence from project leadership and clients.

2. Become a Trusted Client Advisor and Thought Leader. During the first 3–6 months, establish credibility with client stakeholders by understanding their business objectives, communicating technical tradeoffs clearly, challenging assumptions constructively, and recommending solutions that consider both immediate requirements and longer-term strategy. Lead or substantially contribute to discovery, design, demonstrations, technical discussions, and issue resolution. Success will be measured by increased client trust, requests for the Senior Consultant’s input on important decisions, and evidence that their contribution strengthens the client’s desire to continue or expand its relationship with ***.

3. Elevate Architecture, Scalability, and Team Performance. Within the first 6 months, look beyond assigned development tasks to identify architectural, scalability, security, maintainability, integration, and delivery implications across the broader solution. Mentor developers through design guidance, code reviews, troubleshooting, and constructive feedback while promoting reusable components and sound engineering practices. Success will be measured by improved solution quality, fewer avoidable technical issues, stronger developer performance, greater reuse, and technical decisions that support longer-term client needs.

4. Advance Agentic AI and Cross-Platform Solution Capability. Over the first 6–12 months, apply or rapidly develop capabilities in Copilot Studio, agentic AI, Azure, UiPath, and emerging technologies that complement Power Platform solutions. Prior agentic AI experience is valuable but not mandatory when the candidate demonstrates exceptional Power Platform depth and learning agility. Design solutions based on business and architectural fit rather than platform preference. Success will be measured by effective adoption of emerging capabilities, sound cross-platform decisions, and the ability to guide clients and teams toward scalable automation and AI solutions.

Subtasks
1. Establish Technical Direction and Delivery Control. Within the first 30–60 days of an engagement, understand business objectives, requirements, architecture, dependencies, risks, acceptance criteria, and delivery constraints. Identify ambiguity and technical risks early and establish a practical implementation approach that balances immediate delivery with scalability and maintainability. Success will be measured by clear technical direction, proactive risk management, and alignment between solution design and client outcomes.

2. Design and Build Advanced Power Platform Solutions. During the first 30–90 days, lead development of Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Fx, reusable components, connectors, integrations, and security configurations. Make informed decisions involving delegation, throttling, concurrency, licensing, performance, service limits, and reuse. Success will be measured by high-quality, scalable, maintainable solutions delivered on schedule.

3. Lead Integration and Engineering Excellence. Within the first 3–6 months, design or guide integrations across Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, APIs, databases, Azure services, and external systems. Apply strong practices for authentication, security, exception handling, logging, testing, source control, code review, CI/CD, and production support. Success will be measured by resilient integrations, predictable releases, effective troubleshooting, and minimal avoidable production issues.

4. Mentor Developers and Raise Delivery Quality. Throughout the first 3–6 months, actively guide other developers through architecture decisions, technical reviews, troubleshooting, feedback, and reusable examples. Help team members resolve difficult problems without creating unnecessary dependency and identify systemic opportunities to improve development practices. Success will be measured by stronger team execution, improved quality, reduced rework, and measurable growth in those receiving guidance.

5. Lead Client-Facing Technical Consulting. During the first 3–12 months, build trusted relationships with client stakeholders by leading technical discussions, explaining tradeoffs clearly, anticipating concerns, and connecting technical decisions to business and strategic outcomes. Demonstrate professionalism and tact while constructively challenging decisions when appropriate. Success will be measured by client trust, influence on important decisions, positive stakeholder feedback, and contribution to opportunities for continued or expanded work.

6. Expand Agentic AI, Azure, and UiPath Leadership. Over the first 6–12 months, develop or apply expertise in Copilot Studio, agentic AI, Azure, UiPath, and related technologies as client needs evolve. Evaluate technology choices based on scalability, architecture, business value, supportability, and long-term fit. Success will be measured by effective cross-platform delivery and the ability to guide teams and clients toward appropriate technology decisions.

7. Continuously Evaluate and Integrate AI to Improve Performance. Within the first 90–180 days, identify and lead responsible uses of AI that improve architecture, development, testing, debugging, documentation, code review, and client delivery. Pilot approved AI-enabled approaches where they can improve speed, quality, reuse, or solution capability while ensuring validation, security, privacy, auditability, human oversight, and responsible-AI safeguards. Success will be measured by demonstrated delivery improvements and broader adoption of effective AI practices across the team.
