Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and scaling of new product lines utilizing CSC’s material technologies. This individual will play a critical role in bridging R&D and productization, designing radiation mitigation strategies and delivering ready to integrate structures and enclosures for use across a wide variety of mission profiles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design, qualification, and documentation for subsystem & system level enclosure offerings
- Work with Chief Product Officer to develop and implement manufacturing workflows to improve quality, yield, and throughput
- Conduct system & mission level tradeoff analyses of newly developed enclosure solutions utilizing CSC material technologies. · Coordinate system engineering requirements with customers, provide necessary collaborations, and support in successfully integrating CSC radiation mitigation products into customer systems
- Collaborate with R&D, product, and quality team members to aggregate testing data (including radiation test data) and the results of tradeoff analyses into concise product documentation clearly articulating application specific value propositions
- Assist Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer with facilities management, including anticipating future infrastructure requirements
- Assist CSC business development staff in identifying potential new verticals from a technical perspective and conduct feasibility studies on the development of new product lines integrating CSC technologies
- Assist in the development of customer test plans, process improvements, and trade-off analyses
- Develop strong relationships with customer and manufacturing stakeholders
- Lead and manage the growing CSC engineering staff
- Maintain compliance related activities and standards related to QA/QC, traceability, and delivery
- Travel to supplier sites as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 10 years of experience in one or more areas of spacecraft design, development, production, integration and qualification and familiarity with mission operations
- Must be willing to relocate to Huntsville, Alabama area
- Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of complex physical systems
- Experience applying systems engineering practices in flexible and creative ways to support programs with unique developmental constraints
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers to clarify program challenges and system requirements
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
