Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and the importance of regular dental visits.
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency in dental office software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of infection control standards, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical history review, and patient assessment confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about dental health practices.
