Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team full-time in a busy general dentistry practice. The ideal candidate will support the dental team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control. Experience with general dentistry and SoftDent dental software is preferred.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take dental x-rays using digital imaging systems such as CBCT scanners and medical imaging equipment
- Record patient treatments, treatment plans, and medical history accurately in SoftDent software
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures
- Provide clear, friendly education on post-treatment care and build rapport with patients of all ages
- Take impressions and pour study models
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Experience/proficiency with dental software including Softdent or similar platforms for record keeping
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently
- Competence in taking X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology (Valid x-ray license in NJ required)
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License required
Office Hours/Schedule
Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 10 am - 6 pm
Wednesday: 8 am - 5 pm
Thursday: 9 am - 5 pm
Friday: 8 am - 1 pm
Saturday: 8 am - 1 pm (once a month, no weekend hours during summer months)
Sunday: Closed
