Fiber Technician – Underground (trenching, boring, conduit)

Job Summary;
This role includes hands-on field work supporting fiber optic network operations, such as installation, maintenance, and repair activities. The Fiber Technician is responsible for helping ensure consistent network performance and service reliability by following established procedures, safety guidelines, and industry standards.

This is a direct W-2 employment position with the company, not an independent contractor role. It offers long-term stability and the opportunity to be part of ongoing network development while contributing to dependable service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties

• Carry out fiber-related tasks including installation, splicing, testing, repairs, and routine service work with accuracy
• Keep all assigned job records updated, including work orders, reports, and field documentation
• Log hours worked, materials used, and technical results following company reporting procedures
• Ensure all tasks are completed in line with internal standards, client requirements, and quality expectations
• Participate in quality checks and resolve any issues identified during inspections or reviews
• Adhere strictly to safety policies, including OSHA regulations and site-specific guidelines
• Take precautions to avoid damage to existing infrastructure and report any incidents or service disruptions immediately
• Handle company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly, ensuring proper use and maintenance
• Maintain clear and timely communication regarding job status, challenges, and field updates

Compensation;
Compensation is based on a production, per-job structure in accordance with the Company’s current Rate Schedule, which may be updated at the Company’s discretion. Typical weekly earnings range from $1,500 to $2,000, depending on production, job complexity, and hours worked. Production-based earnings are supplemented as necessary to ensure full compliance with all applicable federal and state minimum wage and overtime requirements. The Company guarantees payment of any required wage adjustments to meet these legal standards.

Required Qualifications

• Technical skills: Ability to operate hand tools and handheld mobile devices
• Skills: Effective communication and outstanding customer service
• Abilities: Critical thinking, problem solving, sound decision-making, and priority management
• Travel Ability: Daily travel; valid state driver’s license and safe driving record
• Schedule: Ability to work a variety of schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Additional Requirements

• Maintain a neat, professional appearance
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Have access to a truck, van, or SUV suitable for field work
• Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
• Maintain and use the required tool set for the position
