Job Summary
The Filling Line Operator runs, cleans, changes over, and monitors filling/packaging equipment to meet daily production targets while following all safety, GMP/ISO 22716, and FDA 21 CFR 210/211 requirements. The role performs basic, machine-specific light maintenance and adjustments, recognizes issues early, and promptly escalates to Engineering/Maintenance.
Duties
- Operate filling machinery and packaging equipment efficiently and safely within the production line.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure products meet specified standards and specifications.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the filling room in compliance with CGMP, FDA regulations, and cleanroom protocols.
- Assist with materials handling using forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials and finished products.
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and minor maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation of production activities in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
- Support assembly tasks when required, including packaging and labeling finished products.
- Follow safety procedures diligently, including proper sanitation practices and use of personal protective equipment.
Core Responsibilities
1) Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE, lockout/tagout (as applicable), and machine guarding requirements.
- Adhere to GMP, ISO 22716, and FDA practices; keep work area clean, organized, and audit-ready (5S).
- Execute line clearance and proper product/component segregation.
2) Equipment Operation
- Start up, operate, and shut down fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, induction sealers, case packers, and printers per SOPs.
- Monitor line speed, torque, fill volume/weight, label placement, and seal integrity; make minor adjustments to maintain targets.
- Achieve or exceed daily output and efficiency goals.
3) Cleaning & Changeovers
- Disassemble and reassemble machines and tooling for cleaning, sanitizing, and format changeovers per SOPs.
- Complete and sign cleaning logs, line clearance, and changeover reports accurately and on time.
- Minimize downtime by preparing parts, components, and settings before changeover.
4) Light Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform machine-specific light maintenance (e.g., replace wear parts, tighten fittings, clear jams, simple sensor/guide adjustments) within training scope.
- Recognize abnormal conditions (noise, vibration, rejects, misapplied labels, fill drift) and immediately report to Line Lead and Engineering/Maintenance.
- Assist technicians during repairs and startups after intervention.
5) Quality & Documentation
- Perform in-process checks (weights/volumes, torque, code legibility, label accuracy, visual defects) at required intervals.
- Record results in batch records/IPC sheets; escalate out-of-spec results to QA/Line Lead.
- Handle components and product per BOM and batch instructions; protect lot traceability.
6) Materials & Coordination
- Verify components (bottles, caps, labels, cartons) and bulk availability before and during runs; notify Warehouse/Lead of shortages.
- Reconcile components and report scrap/rejects per procedure.
7) Teamwork & Communication
- Communicate status, issues, and hand-off notes at shift change.
- Support cross-training across stations (filler, capper, labeler, case pack, palletize) to maintain flow.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
