Responsibilities
- Assist patients in the preoperative area by preparing them physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patients' condition to identify any changes requiring intervention.
- Provide postoperative care including monitoring for complications and managing pain effectively.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and their families about postoperative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation to support care coordination.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and hospital safety standards to promote a safe surgical environment.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide critical support in the perioperative setting.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license and current certification.
- Strong knowledge of preoperative and postoperative nursing care practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patient education and team collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented hospital environment.
- Proficiency in monitoring and managing patient vital signs and recognizing signs of distress.
