Key Responsibilities
- Assist in training newly hired and existing staff on UH policies, procedures, and dialysis theory.
- Provide direct one-on-one patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) during dialysis treatments.
- Monitor patient vital signs and treatment progress, documenting and reporting any changes or concerns.
- Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Educate patients on dialysis procedures and related health topics to enhance their understanding and compliance.
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a PCT with at least a year of experience in hemodialysis within the last 24 months
- Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) is required within 18 months
- Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
- Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
- Flexibility and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12 hours) on your feet so wear comfortable shoes! Our work ends when it is safe for our patients.
