We're seeking a Corporate Counsel that will provide strategic legal advice and services that support the Company’s business objectives while mitigating legal risks. This role demands not only a deep understanding of corporate law but also the ability to engage with various stakeholders, anticipate potential legal issues, and develop proactive strategies that promote our company’s growth and stability. The successful candidate will have a deep and nuanced understanding of our business and ensure we are in full compliance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations, with a strong emphasis on HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid requirements. You'll be expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors, which include adhering to CorVel’s core values and foundational beliefs. You will report to the Vice President, General Counsel and primarily support the legal needs of our CERIS, Inc. affiliate entity, with the remaining effort spent supporting the other CorVel affiliate entities.This is a hybrid position.Responsibilities:Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documentsManaged compliance audits conducted by CERIS commercial health carrier clientsMonitor and ensure regulatory compliance across all business operationsAct as HIPAA Privacy & OIG Compliance Officers as required across the organizationBecome familiar with and ultimately manage strategic handling of arbitration matters involving the CERIS commercial health carrier clientsAddress concerns from CERIS commercial health carrier clients regarding Ai defensibilityLitigate or oversee litigation to protect the company's legal interestsConduct legal research and stay updated on legislation and case laws relevant to the businessCollaborate with external legal counsel when necessaryDevelop and implement internal policies and procedures to manage the company’s risk in areas of responsibilityProvide training and workshops on legal issues in areas of responsibility for staffAssist with intellectual property management and protectionProvide legal support over compliance initiativesSupport mergers and acquisition activity and financial transactions. Manage subsidiary management activities for all domestic subsidiariesQualifications:JD from an accredited law schoolBar membership in good standing4-6 years of corporate legal experience, preferably at least two years at a law firm and prior in-house experienceDemonstrated ability to manage a range of legal mattersExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work under pressure and handle multiple prioritiesAbility to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice for the businessWillingness to go high and low when tackling projectsExcellent team player with high IQ and EQWork Environment:Travel required as needed (usually <5%)Must have the ability to effectively work with others remotely, conduct privacy reviews and engage in contract negotiation PAY RANGE:CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
