Position Summary
Corus International is seeking a Payroll Manager to join its Finance & Administration team in Washington, DC.
This is a temporary assignment for 6-12 months.
The Payroll Manager is responsible for semi-monthly payroll processing for approximately 140 staff including U.S.-based employees, expatriates, and third country nationals. Responsibilities include retirement plan contributions, payroll cost allocations to projects, and payroll accounting. The Payroll Manager ensures compliance with Corus International's organizational policies, state and federal laws and regulations, and best practices related to salaries and benefits. S/he will measure success based on the accuracy of the payroll process, staff being paid correctly and on time, and accurate payroll related accounting in ADP and MIP Fund Accounting. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will also be a key member of the Workday implementation team and help with the transition of U.S. payroll from ADP Workforce Now to Workday over the next six months.

Responsibilities
Manage semi-monthly payroll processing:
- Prepare and audit pre-payroll reports for accuracy and approval prior to transmitting payroll.
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll transmittals for ADP transmission and monthly labor and fringe benefit allocations.
- Following receipt of salary, personal data, and deduction information from HR, review HR entry, calculate effects of changes on current pay period, and manage the payroll process to ensure that necessary exceptions are processed correctly.
- Perform post payroll review procedures (employer tax, net salary, reconciliations).
- Ensure proper and timely withholdings for U.S. expatriates paid through HQ.
- Perform monthly allocations of salary, benefits, depreciation, and shared services (ACS).
- Provide payroll-related data for audit purposes and prepare annual form 990 for Corus and subsidiaries.
- Ensure proper funding of Flexible Spending Account (FSA) bank accounts and coordinate additional funding or credit for forfeitures from/to participating agencies.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of FSA bank accounts and general ledger account with third party vendor balances and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Perform general ledger analysis for payroll-related accounts on a quarterly basis (or more frequently if deemed necessary). Perform the quarterly reconciliation of payroll tax reports (IRS 941) to general ledger.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for U.S. payroll for the Workday implementation project.
- Document and provide clarity on the current-state U.S. payroll processes in ADP Workforce Now.
- Assist with the design and documentation of the future-state U.S. payroll processes in Workday.
- Collaborate with the Workday implementation partner to appropriately configure and set up Workday to meet Corus's future state payroll needs.
- Serve as the primary tester for the payroll processes during the User Acceptance Testing phase of the Workday implementation project.
- Process payroll in Workday once the Workday payroll module has gone live.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Must have significant experience managing U.S. payroll using both ADP Workforce Now and Workday.
- Experience with MIP Fund Accounting a plus.
- Experience working with quarterly payroll reports, as well as annual reports (Forms W-2 and W-3, Forms 941, etc.).
- Experience with payments for Expat employees preferred.
- Well-versed in Federal, State and other applicable laws governing the administration of payroll.
- Advanced skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, V-lookup, Keyboard Shortcuts).
- Professional integrity, initiative, dependability, and commitment to excellence.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- The physical requirements that may be needed to execute responsibilities may include bending, standing, and walking, etc.

- Corus has a hybrid work policy, allowing work to be done remotely; two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) in the office is required. The employee must be available to work outside normal office hours or weekends as required.
- This position must be able to travel as required for standard domestic business purposes.
