What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Cortland Veterinary Hospital?
The Cortland Veterinary Hospital is a newly renovated, privately owned small animal hospital located near the Finger Lakes region. We're a well established hospital with dedicated clients who appreciate the care we provide them and their pets. Many of our clients are generations of families who have entrusted us with the care of their pets for the 79 years that we've been a part of this community. Cortland is a college town where outdoor sports, cultural activities, food venues and Destiny are readily accessible.

Responsibilities based on skill:
Assist the doctors and licensed technicians with:
Compassionate patient handling and care
Assessing patient health status
Venipuncture and catheter placement
Administering treatment
Radiology/Ultrasonography-patient preparation and handling
Lab-prepare specimens for in house blood tests, fecal test, urinalysis, cytology, maintain equipment
Surgery-assist doctors, maintain surgical instruments and surgery room
Dentistry-assist in patient preparation, maintain equipment
Pharmacy-assist in dispensing medication maintain inventory
Client communication and education- call clients for patient updates and to provide doctors instructions
Office duties-utilize software system-AVIMARK

Qualifications: High School Diploma
Experience: 1 year preferred not required on-site training provided
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
