We are seeking a highly motivated and teachable Research Associate to join our Crop Health Discovery & Development team. This role supports research activities related to foliar pathogens, contributing to the development of innovative fungicide solutions. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative R&D environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and execute laboratory and greenhouse experiments involving foliar plant pathogens, applying technical skills and independently executing established protocols.
- Understand and utilize microbial culture systems, which may include preparation and maintenance of live cultures, media, and experimental materials, ensuring sterile technique and scientific integrity.
- Ensure the scientific rigor of R&D experiments, interpreting bioassay results to inform strategic decisions and guide pipeline development.
- Assist with troubleshooting and procedural optimization efforts, collaborating with scientific colleagues to resolve experimental challenges and escalate critical issues when necessary.
- Work closely with research investigators and other research associates to ensure timely completion of research objectives; communicate clearly with peers and supervisors.
- Adapt research strategies and methodologies in response to evolving priorities and innovations in a dynamic scientific environment.
- Maintain data integrity and documentation standards, ensuring accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of experimental results.
- Maintain laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance, particularly in the handling of plant pathogens and biohazardous materials.
- B.S. in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Soil Science, Plant Biology, or related field, or 5 years of experience in greenhouse and/or laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic research environment.
- Experience working with plants and plant pathogens.
- Experience with laboratory bioassays and greenhouse trials.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and handling of plant pathogens.
