Electrical Design Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking an Electrical Engineer to support facilities and telecommunications infrastructure for a major utility in the Pacific Northwest. This role focuses on the design, review, and analysis of electrical systems within substations, telecom buildings, and supporting operational facilities.

You will partner with internal engineering teams and external A/E firms to ensure electrical systems meet safety, reliability, and code requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and contribute to electrical designs for low/medium-voltage building systems (50V–480V).
• Support site assessments, scoping, and design reviews for substations and telecom facilities.
• Evaluate electrical components including transformers, panelboards, generators, lighting, grounding, and building power systems.
• Conduct or review load flow, short-circuit, and arc flash studies.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE, and related industry standards.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5 years of experience in electrical design for building or industrial facilities.
• Strong background in low/medium-voltage power distribution.
• Working knowledge of NEC and NESC.
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and A/E submittals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with arc flash and short-circuit studies.
• Exposure to utility, substation, or telecommunications sites.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
