We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized Kennel Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our dog rescue kennel facility in Magnolia, TX. Position Overview:
The Kennel Supervisor is responsible for managing and ensuring the safety of our kennel staff, ensuring high standards of animal care, and supporting the overall day-to-day operations of the facility. This role works closely with leadership and plays an important part in decision-making related to the care and wellbeing of our dogs, the interactions we have with volunteers and vendors while keeping all aspects of our kennel facility running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, support, and lead kennel staff employees to perform their daily work in the most efficient and productive manner
- Interview, hire, train, and schedule staff members
- Manage daily kennel operations and workflow
- Ensure proper care, cleanliness, safety, and enrichment for animals
- Assist in making decisions regarding animals’ care and wellbeing
- Maintain clear communication with staff and leadership
- Perform hands-on kennel duties as required, work directly with our dogs to enrich their lives and prepare them for adoption
Qualifications:
- 10 years of previous management or supervisory experience required OR
- 5 years of kennel supervisory, related veterinary or animal industry/rescue experience
- Prior experience working with dogs strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft suite of products and several other systems that are specific to the Animal Rescue community
- Must be comfortable with using Facebook Messenger to communicate with the Leadership and employees on a daily/regular basis
- Must be comfortable working on your feet for at least 75% of the day
- Must be comfortable working with dogs of all breeds/temperaments/sizes
- Ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment
- Dependable, flexible, and comfortable with physical work. Able to lift 40 lbs infrequently
- Passion for animal rescue and welfare
Schedule Requirements:
- Schedule can be flexible for the right candidate, but this is a 7 day/12 hr per day facility so the Supervisor will be expected to stay connected to guide the team as needed
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- Schedule may vary based on facility needs
