LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, MORGAN COUNTY

This position is located at Morgan County Correctional Complex.

A Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) screening will be conducted prior to employment.

This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to two years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: academic teaching; educational administration; development of instructional materials for academic programs; or training.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate course work in one or a combination of the following may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years: (1) Human Resources Management; (2) Industrial/Organizational Psychology; or (3) any field related to the design or evaluation of curriculum and related instructional processes, including, but not limited to Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational/Instructional Media Design, Educational Evaluation, Research, and Statistics. (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours may be substituted for one year of required experience).

Substitution of Experience for Education: Any teaching or training experience, or any remaining professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.

Substitution for Specialized Experience: Four years of full-time professional work in the subject matter of instruction may be substituted for the two years of specialized experience.

Applicant must successfully become certified as a facilitator by the Department of Human Resources within six months of hire.

OR

One year of professional experience in delivering workforce training with the State of Tennessee.

Overview

This Training Officer 1 supports the Assistant Director of Talent Management at TDOC Central Office by assisting in the delivery of high-quality training programs that enhance staff development and ensure organizational compliance. This role works closely with facility leadership to promote consistent, effective, and professional learning experiences for employees at Morgan County Correctional Complex and across the department. Through coordination, facilitation, and continuous improvement of training initiatives, the Training Officer 1 contributes to building a capable, well-prepared workforce aligned with TDOC standards and operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, monitor, and deliver agency specific trainings and DOHR-required courses during New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all staff TDOC and contractors
• Support the development, revision, and maintenance of training materials, lesson plans, and curriculum to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational standards
• Obtain Department of Human Resources (DOHR) facilitator certification and Tennessee Correction Academy (TCA) Adjunct Facilitator certification
• Enroll in and complete DOHR Leadership and Development pyramid courses and earn T4T certifications required to facilitate workshops
• Develop and manage a bi-annual schedule of DOHR Level 1 and Level 2 Learning and Leadership pyramid classes for staff
• Ensure employee training files are accurate, complete, and compliant with TDOC standards, ACA standards, policies, and audit requirements
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employees seeking assistance with training requirements, class schedules, and professional development opportunities
• Submit the facility's annual training plan to the Tennessee Correction Academy in accordance with TDOC policy
• Assist with special projects and workgroups assigned to Talent Management and Staff Development
• Partner with MCCX Human Resources and facility leadership teams to support onboarding activities
