Project Health & Safety Field Position
Location: Linden, New Jersey 07036
Employment Type: Hourly | Project Assignment
Work Shift & Schedule: 6x10's Schedule - Day shift. Running Approximately Mid April 2026 through July 31st, 2026. Renewable energy project site.
Position Summary
The Project Health & Safety Field Position provides on-site health and safety support for construction and industrial projects. This is a field role, responsible for assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of project-specific health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company standards, and client requirements. Works closely with project management, operating units, and client to promote a strong safety culture and prevent incidents.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Support & Administration
- Provide clerical and administrative support to project safety operations, including documentation control, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining project health and safety programs, procedures, and protocols.
- Prepare, compile, and present safety-related reports, metrics, and documentation to project leadership and management.
Regulatory Compliance & Inspections
- Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and client health and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of work areas, job sites, equipment, and common areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Regularly assess tools, equipment, and machinery to verify they are in safe operating condition.
Field Safety Oversight
- Perform job site safety observations of field and craft personnel, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Support the management and oversight of Safe Work Permit Programs, including but not limited to:
- Hot Work
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Confined Space Entry
- Other permit-required activities
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues and recommend controls.
Incident Management
- Participate in and support incident and near-miss investigations to determine root causes.
- Collaborate with operating units and adjacent contractors to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Track and trend incident data to identify recurring risks and improvement opportunities.
Training & Communication
- Conduct and facilitate safety training sessions, orientations, and toolbox talks (e.g., TBSM, site safety orientations).
- Educate supervisors, managers, and project leaders on health and safety requirements and best practices.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through effective communication and engagement at all levels of the workforce.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze health and safety data, trends, and observations to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Review existing work practices and recommend improvements to reduce risk and enhance safety performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company and client safety objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
Certifications (Preferred)
- BCSP credentials such as CSP, CHST, or OHST
- OSHA 500, 510, 511, and/or OSHA 30
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of construction safety field experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting active construction or industrial projects.
Availability
- Local candidates preferred, but open to non-local candidates.
- Willingness to travel for onsite project work as required.
- Ability to work scheduled and extended hours for special projects, including weekends when necessary.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role:
- Frequent walking on active construction sites, including uneven surfaces.
- Occasional climbing of stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions typical of construction and industrial job sites.
Compensation & Travel
- Hourly Rate: $45.00 – $55.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Mobilization / Demobilization: Mileage provided for non-local candidates
- Per Diem: Available (project and location dependent)
