Freelance Grant Writing Assistant (1099 Contractor)
Location: Corpus Christi, TX (local applicants only — regular in-person meetings required)

Hours: Part-time, flexible; workload will start at 40 hours per month and may grow based on availability, results, and my ability to attract new clients

About the Role
Growing grant-writing practice seeking dependable, detail-oriented freelance assistant to support research, writing, document preparation, and related tasks. Contract position ideal for someone who enjoys writing, organizing, and mission-driven work. Training provided. The right candidate could have the opportunity to grow into more advanced writing and project responsibilities.
Responsibilities May Include
- Conduct background research on funders, community issues, and program data
- Assist with drafting, editing, and formatting grant proposals and supporting documents
- Organize and track grant calendars, deadlines, and submission materials
- Compile and verify data and narratives for proposals
- Track grant requirements and reporting needs
- Participate in regular in-person training meetings in Corpus Christi public locations
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with sensitive client information
Required Qualifications
- Must live in or near Corpus Christi, Texas, and be available for regular in-person meetings
- Must have laptop computer with internet access or access to one during training period.
- Must have access to computer with internet access long term.
- Must have ongoing access to computer (desktop or laptop).
- Strong writing and proofreading ability
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills and comfort managing multiple deadlines
- Professional communication style (email, phone, and face to face)
- Ability to follow instructions, ask clarifying questions, and work independently
- Reliable, timely, and responsive
- Comfortable using common tools such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Google
Desirable / Helpful Qualities

- Prior experience with nonprofit work, grant writing, research, editing, or administrative support
- Interest in local community issues, social services, education, health, arts, or related fields
- Familiarity with funder databases or online research tools
- Ability to summarize information cleanly and concisely

- A calm, steady work style — especially when deadlines approach
Compensation
- $25 hourly rate to start
- This is a 1099 independent contractor role; the contractor is responsible for their own taxes, benefits, and equipment
