Job Summary
The Materials Water Spider at is responsible for replenishing materials to the production lines atto support continuous manufacturing operations. This position ensures the correct parts are delivered at the right time based on part numbers and production priorities. The Water Spider must be able to read, understand, and speak English to correctly identify part numbers, Kanban signals, and material priorities. This role also requires forklift (hi-lo) and picker training and licensing to provide backup
support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Replenish materials to production lines based on part number, quantity, and priority
• Support 1st or 2nd shift production requirements as assigned
• Use Kanban cards and scanners to trigger, track, and confirm material replenishment
• Read and understand part numbers, labels, and material priorities
• Ensure correct material is delivered to the correct line and designated location
• Monitor line-side inventory levels and replenish material before shortages occur
• Communicate material needs, shortages, or issues to production and materials leadership
• Safely operate a forklift (hi-lo) and picker, as required
• Serve as a backup forklift driver or picker, when needed
• Follow all safety rules, standard work instructions, and material handling procedures
• Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards
Required Qualifications
• Must obtain and/or maintain valid forklift and picker certifications
• Forklift (hi-lo) license and training required
• Picker license and training required
• Required to identify part numbers, Kanban cards, scanners, and production priorities
• Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
Educational Requirements
• High School diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read, understand, and speak English
• Basic math and counting skills
• Ability to use scanners and Kanban systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment
Physical Requirements
This position requires a person to perform work while standing and/or walking for the entire length of the
shift, the ability to bend, reach, and push and/or pull material up to 30 lbs.
Working Conditions
The job is performed in a production/manufacturing environment. All safety policies and
procedures must be followed and required personal protective equipment (PPE) must always be worn on
the plant floor.
