Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid/On-Site) with up to 20% regional travel

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility for after-hour migrations, project deadlines and client needs

We specialize in cloud modernization, cybersecurity, Microsoft technologies, networking, virtualization, compliance, and managed services.

 

As we continue to expand our Professional Services team, we are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise infrastructure for a diverse client base. The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure for a diverse client base. This position requires deep expertise in Microsoft cloud technologies, hybrid environments, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, and automation.

 

The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing cloud-first environments while maintaining secure hybrid infrastructures. This engineer works directly with clients, Project Managers, Service Desk personnel, and executive leadership to deliver high-quality solutions and takes ownership of projects from planning through successful completion.

Candidates should possess significant experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft cloud technologies, including Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Networking, Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Storage, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Monitor, and Azure Policy. Candidates should also have extensive experience administering Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams Voice, and Windows Autopilot.

 

Strong enterprise infrastructure experience is required with Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025; Active Directory; Group Policy; DNS; DHCP; Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); VMware vSphere; Hyper-V; SAN storage; Veeam Backup; Fortinet firewalls; Cisco switching; VPN technologies; VLAN design; and enterprise wireless networking.

 

Experience working within Government, DoD, CMMC, NIST, CJIS, HIPAA, or other regulated environments is highly preferred.

 

Key responsibilities include:

·        Design and implement Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure

·        Architect hybrid cloud solutions utilizing Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, and Microsoft 365

·        Deploy and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments

·        Design and maintain enterprise networking solutions including routing, switching, VPN, SD-WAN, and firewalls

·        Configure and administer Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Intune

·        Design disaster recovery and business continuity solutions

·        Implement identity management utilizing Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and Privileged Identity Management

·        Lead infrastructure modernization projects from planning through implementation

·        Perform server migrations, cloud migrations, and datacenter consolidations

·        Design and maintain virtualization environments utilizing VMware and Hyper-V

·        Configure storage, backup, replication, and high-availability solutions

·        Develop PowerShell automation for administration and deployment tasks

·        Manage multiple concurrent projects

·        Participate in technical pre-sales consultations and project scoping

·        Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership

·        Document environments and maintain accurate technical documentation

 

Security responsibilities include:

·        Implement Zero Trust security principles

·        Configure Microsoft Defender XDR solutions

·        Deploy Microsoft Sentinel and SIEM integrations

·        Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation

·        Implement security hardening utilizing CIS Benchmarks

·        Configure Conditional Access policies

·        Support Microsoft Purview compliance solutions

·        Maintain secure cloud architecture following Microsoft best practices

·        Assist clients with cybersecurity assessments and remediation


Technology Experience Required:

Knowledge and Experience Required:

·        Minimum of eight (8) years of enterprise Windows systems engineering experience, including five (5) or more years designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.

·        Experience leading enterprise infrastructure projects while successfully managing multiple concurrent implementations from planning through completion.

·        Extensive experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure technologies, including Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Networking, Azure Virtual WAN, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Storage, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Monitor, and Azure Policy.

·        Extensive experience administering Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams Voice, and Windows Autopilot.

·        Strong enterprise infrastructure experience with Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, SAN storage, Veeam Backup, Fortinet firewalls, Cisco switching, VPN technologies, VLAN design, and enterprise wireless networking.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, executive leadership, and clients while producing clear technical documentation.

·        U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired

·        Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or consulting environment supporting multiple client infrastructures.

·        Experience with Microsoft GCC High, Azure Government, CMMC implementations, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep), PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Graph API, automation platforms, Professional Services Automation (PSA) platforms, Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platforms, and remote access technologies.

·        Experience supporting organizations operating under regulated cybersecurity or compliance frameworks, including NIST SP 800-171, NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), CMMC Level 2, RMF, FIPS 140-2/140-3, FedRAMP, CJIS, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2. Experience supporting defense contractors, federal agencies, state and local government, or other highly regulated industries is highly desirable.

·        Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100), Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200), Identity and Access Administrator (SC-300), or Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert.

·        Industry certifications such as Fortinet FCP Network Security or Cloud Security, Cisco CCNP Enterprise, CISSP, CCSP, CompTIA Security , CySA , CASP , GIAC certifications, or VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
