Description:
This is the mid-level position to set up and operate a Weinig Powermat 700 Moulder. Employees at this level are expected to have developed confidence in conducting independent machine set up which would include operation, quality check and operator preventive maintenance.
Requirements:- Setup: Selecting appropriate cutting tools, securing workpieces in vices or fixtures, and adjusting machine parameters such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut.
- Operation: Performing shaping, cutting, or planning operations on metal or plastic materials.
- Monitoring: Continuously observing the machine during operation to ensure smooth production and detect issues.
- Quality Control: Inspecting finished pieces using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to technical drawings and tolerances.
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning and lubrication, and repairing minor issues.
- Documentation: Keeping records of production logs, work orders, and quality control data.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, wood species, and mathematics.
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out
- Experience: Usually requires 2 to 3 years of experience with woodworking machinery.
- Certification: ITI (Industrial Training Institute) or similar vocational training is often required.
- Safety Consciousness: Commitment to following safety regulations and using protective equipment.
Physical Demands:
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours
- Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
- Walking in great frequency
- Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces
