Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, etc.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Take dental X-rays, FMX, panoramic and intraoral photos while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records using systems like Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients with special needs or medical conditions.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines ensuring patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Ability to communicate effectively using dental terminology relevant to various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
- Strong organizational skills for managing appointments, medical records, and insurance documentation.
