Cornwells Elementary school in the The Bensalem School District is hiring a Teaching Assistant to work with our students. This Teaching Assitant position works with the English Language Specialist and General Eduation Teachers to provide applicable intervention supports to the students in developing their English language, reading, or other applicable areas.
The position is Part Time (20-25 HRs per week)
Hours- 9:15AM- 1:45PM
POSITION TITLE: Intervention Assistant
REPORTS TO:
The Teaching Assitant ELD reports to the Building Principal and works along with and is guided by the English Language Specialist to provide applicable intervention supports to the students.
POSITION GOAL:
To assist the English Language Specialist t in maintaining the most effective level of instruction possible and providing intervention supports to students in math, reading, or other applicable subject areas.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess appropriate level of education and experience to perform the
essential duties relative to the position.
Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties.
Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position.
Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position.
Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Eighteen (18) college credits in education and field experience with school age children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Administers such achievement and diagnostic tests as the English Language Specialist recommends for students.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning in applicable subject area.
- Assists the English Language Specialist in the completion and maintenance of forms, records and individual student files.
- Supervises testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation.
