Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Responsible for the following equipment:
- Screeners, measurement benches, automated fiber processing line, receipt to stock equipment, chamber equipment and any other auxiliary equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Equipment certification, setup, operations, process monitoring and troubleshooting according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Prepares all equipment for set-up insuring all necessary certification/audits are complete.
- Visually inspects fiber for defects, makes pass/fail decisions and interfaces with computer to record and track production information.
- Associate performs duties and specific tasks in support of singlemode, multimode, submarine and experimental fiber.
- Tasks include loading bulk spool and shipping spool onto arbor(s), inspecting and verifying fiber quality on shipping spools, running manual measurement benches and fiber processing automation (FPA) equipment, final inspection, loading and unloading chambers and FPA line, and receipting fiber into warehouse.
- Labels non-conforming product using "on hold" database and owns issue resolution for "on hold" product.
- Identifies and/or eliminates specific process and equipment problems by following documented procedures.
- Uses process monitoring tools to initiate, diagnose and complete troubleshooting checklists.
Some of the specifics include:
- Limited knowledge of screener equipment to include: identifying leader defect, wind quality, surface defect and breaks defects and determining solutions such as pulley, belt and guide roller problems and notifying appropriate level of support to troubleshoot the problems.
- Changes capstans and verifies screening tension.
- Limited knowledge of FPA/RMS equipment to include: resolving wrap quality issues during loading on FPA line, acknowledging and resetting shuttle faults (loss power) using touch screen at RMS, RMS labeler and FPA unload.
- Limited knowledge of manual measurement benches to include: troubleshooting and cleaning VISA handlers and troubleshooting of cleave issues.
- Limited knowledge of RTS to include: Clearing conveyor jams and resolving minor printer issues (changing labels, printer audit checks for legibility).
- Identifies auxiliary equipment that requires outside maintenance support such as bulk spools, lift carts, vacuums, printers, monitors, bar code equipment and shuttles.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks such as replenishing supplies and staging, counting and managing wareflow.
- Updates utilization editors for accurate tracking and managing of wareflow.
- Communicates open equipment and safety issues through passdown entry and shift huddles.
- Maintains and performs housekeeping to specified department standards.
- Actively participates in team and plant safety initiatives including department and plant wide safety audits, Job Safety Analysis' (JSA), incident investigation and implementation of corrective action.
- Responsible for training of team members through class room and hands-on training to include certification and re-certification.
- Participates in quality and manufacturing audits and other related activities as required.
- Participates in staffing decisions for the team.
- Interacts with other production team members to determine needed coverage.
- Monitors and maintains overtime records as required.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Candidate must be 18 years of age to be considered.
Schedule:
- 12 hour rotating shift
