Join our team as a Deli Assistant Manager, where you'll lead the daily operations of our deli department with energy and enthusiasm! In this vital role, you'll oversee food preparation, ensure exceptional customer service, manage inventory, and supervise staff to deliver a top-tier culinary experience. This position offers an opportunity to develop your management skills within a fast-paced, hospitality-focused setting.
This position is more than being a line cook or a fry cook. It requires you to be able to develop recipes, produce bulk quantites of high quality foods, work with catering orders, meal prep orders, as well as maintain a deli counter with excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily deli operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain high standards of quality and freshness
- Lead staff training and development to ensure excellent customer service, food safety, and proper food handling procedures
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste to optimize profitability
- Oversee POS systems such as EZCater, CAS, and Toast to ensure products are accurately entered and labeled for checkout.
- Coordinate shift management, including scheduling staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring smooth workflow during busy hours
- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all deli activities
- Support culinary innovation by assisting with food production for catering, special events, or casual dining offerings
Requirements
- Proven experience in food service management or supervisory roles within the food industry; fine dining or hospitality management experience is a plus
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management with a focus on quality control and bulk production
- Computer skills and technological literacy
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively through training, coaching, and performance management
- Knowledge of inventory control practices and food safety standards in the food industry
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Previous experience in restaurant management or assistant manager roles within casual dining or catering environments is highly desirable
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
