Medical Billing Specialist

Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist for immediate hire!

The right fit talent will have a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our clients Medical Billing Department. This position plays a key role in ensuring patients receive timely access to care by managing medical billing processes.

Location: Las Vegas, NV (immediate hire, must currently live in the area)

Pay: $17.00-23.00

Schedule:

• In person
• Monday through Friday
• 8:00 am to 5:00 pm pst

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, collections and insurance authorizations. Primary role will be managing the prior authorizations ensuring patients receive timely access to care. Have experienced insurance knowledge to be assertive, but friendly on the phone, possess the ability to handle a fast pace work environment, and be willing and able to multitask. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Submit and call insurance companies to authorize complex cases
• Process and track referrals to specialists and outside services
• Communicate with providers and staff regarding authorization status and required documentation
• Maintain accurate records of authorizations and follow-ups within Epic
• Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and resolve issues related to denied or pending authorizations

What We’re Looking For in a Candidate:

• Attention to Detail – Ability to work quickly and accurately to reduce delays or denials
• Organizational Skills – Comfortable juggling multiple requests, deadlines, and follow-ups; able to track and prioritize tasks using systems like Epic and spreadsheets
• Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving – Willing to follow up persistently, identify roadblocks, and work toward solutions
• Time Management – Able to manage a high volume of orders efficiently
• Insurance Knowledge

Key Qualifications:

Skills

• Proven working experience as a prior authorization coordinator in hospital, ASC, Orthopedic, neurology or pain practices.
• Must be familiar with Nevada insurances and benefit information.
• Must be familiar with CPT codes and ICD-10
• Must be familiar with medical terminology.
• Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with medical billing (required).
• Minimum 2 years of medical health insurance knowledge/experience (required).
• Basic knowledge of medical billing and CPT coding (required).
• Experience with medical records (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of scheduling experience (medical or surgical) (required).
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurances.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
