Associated Health Professionals, Inc. (AHP), a Joint Commission Certified supplemental healthcare staffing agency, is seeking experienced Pre-Op / Post-Op Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the VA Northern California Health Care System in Martinez, CA.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses seeking a full-time (Monday–Friday schedule) position at a VA healthcare facility
Position Details:
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Pre-Operative / Post-Operative
- Location: VA Northern California Health Care System – Martinez, CA
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday–Friday
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Pay: $75.00/hr / $3,000/week
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required for Federal Employment (VA) positions.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of current, consecutive Pre-Op and/Post-Op nursing experience.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments, monitor patient status, and implement physician orders to ensure patients are safely prepared for surgical procedures and receive appropriate post-operative care, including, but not limited to:
- Assess patient readiness for surgical and procedural interventions
- Review medical histories, obtaining and monitor vital signs
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy, administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physicians orders
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Provide patient education regarding pre-operative preparation, post-operative recovery, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to caring for Veteran patients.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain compliance with VA policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures
